UMKC School of Medicine Renovation and Health Science Education Building Program and Master Plan

UMKC School of Medicine Renovation and Health Science Education Building Program and Master Plan

The Clark Enersen Partners developed a Master Plan for the next phase of the Hospital Hill Campus development.  This effort included programming and conceptual design of a new 155,000 GSF Health Science Education building, renovation of 249,000 GSF in the existing School of Medicine, and a new 250,000 GSF Health Sciences Research and Translational Clinical Research Building.

The Clark Enersen Partners worked with representatives of the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Nursing to develop the original program statement for the Health Sciences Research Building.  The latest programming process was broken into two parts.  The first focuses on the general needs of the Hospital Hill campus for UMKC and the specific needs of the School of Medicine.  The second looks at the overall research needs for all schools on Hospital Hill and partner institutions.

Developing the program for the School of Medicine Renovation and the new Health Sciences Education Building has evolved from intensive one-on-one meetings with focus groups, key leadership and individual users.  Asking the right questions and making sure that everyone’s voice is heard, we have rapidly determined the programmatic needs for over 400,000 GSF of space to facilitate the schools administrative, docent unit (student office), instructional, research and building support space needs.
