UNL College of Engineering Master Plan

UNL College of Engineering Master Plan

The Clark Enersen Partners completed a Master Plan for the College of Engineering at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. The Engineering College is one of the largest programs in the state university system with ten major departments and facilities spread across three campuses. The flagship facility of the college currently occupies a prominent 8 acre parcel of land on the main city campus in Lincoln. The building is an interconnected patchwork of structures that have been built up over the years starting in 1931 with the latest major addition built in 2003 and totaling nearly 750,000 gross square feet. The College is in the midst of a major growth initiative with the goal of expanding their enrollment and faculty workforce by 33% in the next five years. The Clark Enersen Partners were hired in late 2014 to help build a road map of options showing how their aging facilities and potential new construction can react to and aid in the implementation of this aggressive mission. The master plan has been completed and is awaiting final comments.  It provides a detailed analysis of existing facilities, a comprehensive program study to accommodate the future growth, a strategy for major renovations to existing structures and an optional plan for a major new building on an adjacent site. The overall cost target of Phase I of the implemented Master Plan presently is estimated at $171,000,000.
