ViraCor IBT Laboratory Renovation and Expansion

ViraCor IBT Laboratory Renovation and Expansion

The Clark Enersen Partners was engaged by Viracor-IBT in June of 2010 to help undertake a series of major renovations in their current facility and to completely outfit an adjacent facility across the parking lot. The need for this major expansion was driven by the recent merger of ViraCor Laboratories and IBT Reference Laboratory; a Lenexa, Kansas based clinical research service specializing in immunology and allergy research. The work at the original facility included conversion of the existing research laboratory into additional diagnostic space along with a major renovation of existing open office and shell space for a similar purpose.

This renovation added over 7,000-net-square-feet of diagnostic testing space which increased that space use capacity by over 250%. The work at 951 Technology Drive involved converting an existing warehouse for a drywall supplier into a new office and research laboratory. The 32,500-gross-square-foot facility was completely remodeled to accommodate 4,000-net-square-feet of research laboratories, 14,000-square-feet of office space and 4,400-square-feet of warehousing and receiving space. Clark Enersen provided all architectural and laboratory planning as well as mechanical and electrical engineering for the entire project. City approvals and preliminary construction operations had commenced by October of 2010 and were completed in May of 2011.
